Britannia scope rails are made here in the UK for a selection of rifles for which fitment of a Picatinny, or similar rail, will greatly simplify scope mounting. After using a Browning T-Bolt 17 HMR rifle for the last few months and with the recent addition of some night vision optics from Yukon, there was a desperate search for a rail to fit it. Britannia, from Country Sports Wholesale came to the rescue and although not a true full-length linear Picatinny Specification (there is a flat area in the centre without lateral grooves), fit and finish are absolutely first rate.
The action is dimensionally similar to an Anschutz but with different bolt spacing, four of which are supplied with this rail, to enable secure fitment in less than two minutes with a T15 Torx wrench. This enables any Weaver of Picatinny two-piece rings to be bolted in place. The joy of Picatinny is the ease of swapping accessories around and this rail allowed use of both conventional day optics and night vision on the same rifle, with no loss of zero for either. Britannia are making similar rails for Anschutz, Bergara, Browning, CZ, Howa, Lithgow, Mauser, Remington, Ruger, Sako, Sauer, Savage, Tikka and Weihrauch, as well as universal and Gunsmith fitted rails.
