Wheeler 30mm Scope Rings

Securely fixing the scope to the rifle is a key part of the equation and it’s a false economy to scrimp on this area. Wheeler mounts from American Outdoor are available in the UK through the Sportsman Gun Centre. The mounts featured are for scopes with a 30mm main body tube. They are compatible with any Picatinny base and even include a crossbar to locate in between the notches, for a super-secure fit. The clamps are closed using large bolt heads, which can be hand tightened and then nipped up with a coin. The mounts come supplied with two Torx keys.

The rings themselves feature the diagonal style of clamp, and these are secured with three screws top and bottom, for an even spread of torque pressure. Canting the gun can be a problem, so many shooters opt to use a spirit level where possible. These mounts cater to such enthusiasts, as one of the rings comes pre-fitted with a flip-out spirit level assembly. It is a really neat design, which allows the shooter to compensate and keep the gun absolutely level to ensure a true trajectory when taking a demanding shot. With the level flipped up and out of the way, it adds a little extra width to the setup. Overall, the fit and finish plus the quality of manufacture feels suitably precise.
