Cannae Pro Gear Armoury Range Bag

Cannae Pro Gear Armoury Range Bag

I’ve used quite a few range bags over the years and I must admit they’ve never really been good enough; they never seem to have the right features and everything ends up jumbled up after a while; it might start out okay when I pack it at home but at the range the contents end up all over the place, which is quite annoying to say the least! I was therefore interested to see what the Cannae Pro Gear Armory Range Bag would be like. The bag is very well designed and made from Cordura Nylon and is 19-inches long, 13½-inches high and 10-inches wide; in ‘new money’ that’s 48.3cm long, 34.2cm high and 25.4cm wide, for a total capacity of 26.5-cubic litres. That’s plenty big enough for a range day with several rifles, mags and accessories. Unloaded weight is 3.8lbs or 1.7kg – the laden weight is up to you!

The main compartment is accessed via a double YKK zip that can open right up, so that the contents can be accessed easily. The zip opens so that it flaps back fully at one end and inside there are two, lift-out compartments that are ideal for ammo boxes, accessories etc. and as they do lift out, it’s possible to keep things all together if needed. The bag also comes with dividers that can be used in place of the two compartments, or to divide up the lift out sections themselvesthey really have put a lot of thought into this handy bit of kit. You can therefore configure the bag as you require.

On the outside, there are zip-fastened, plush-lined compartments on both sides that can swallow up all manner of gear; one incidentally is the perfect size for my boxed Magnetospeed chronograph. The flaps, once fully un-zipped, can lay flat on the ground, so are perfect for keeping bits and pieces in place if you have to carry out any on-site gun maintenance. One has six pockets for pistol magazines and a pouch that could actually hold a pistol. The other side has more compartments, including ones for pens and smaller items and another mesh compartment that’s ideal for car keys etc. Now we come to the ends; one has two large pouches, big enough for 20-round 7.62mm magazines that are held closed with Velcro; the other end has a single zip-up pouch (8- x 7-inches) that’s perfect for a small sandwich box- a man’s got to eat, after all! The outside has Molle straps and a large Velcro pad.

Carrying is taken care of either by using the two sturdy handles that can be fixed securely together with another Velcro flap. Alternatively, you can use the removable shoulder strap that has a reinforced pad to spread the load for enhanced comfort, handy if the bag is fully loaded… The exterior is pretty much covered in 40 Mil-spec Molle strips, so all manner of pouches etc. can be attached. There’s also a large Velcro portion on one side for those all-important ‘morale patches’.

Conclusion

All in all, the Cannae Pro Gear Armory Range Bag is well up to the task of carrying all your shooting gear to the range, keeping it organised and secure, as well as being very well made into the bargain. It’s not the cheapest option out there at £124.99 but the build quality and host of useful features should make it popular with all sorts of shooters who appreciate quality gear.
