Napier Bullpup DX Razorback Gunbag

As the trend continues for bullpup-style air rifles, it’s not surprising there are a few dedicated gun bags to accommodate the compact design of these guns. Well, it’s now Napier’s turn to throw their hat in the ring with the Bull Pup DX Razorback gun bag.

It weighs 2.25kg and measures 92cm in length (internally), plus 40cm at its widest point (centre and butt section). The Bull Pup DX is based on Napier’s topquality Razorback Stalker bag, so incorporates all of its technical features.

Gimme 5

The 5-layer build of the bag consists of a tough canvas outer known as Lamtec, which is waterproof and abrasion-resistant. This is bonded to 4 function layers consisting of a waterproof membrane, some high density 10mm foam, an EVA tough shell and a flock lining to protect the rifle held inside. The inner of the bag has two Velcro fasten retainer straps, so your rifle doesn’t move around in transit. There’s also an inner sleeve pocket for holding a corrosion inhibiting sachet of Napier VP90 and one is supplied free with every bag.

Strength & protection

The main strength of the gun bag lies in the EVA lateral spine, which forms a hard shell around the gun. This is so tough that it will take an incredible 50kg of lateral load pressure. This offers flight case type protection in a soft-sided gun bag. The outer boasts Armour Flex scuff panels at the front, middle and rear. These are made from a very hardwearing tough rubber.

The bag opens using a single heavy-duty zip that is self-sealing, with the track being protected by a weather shield guard. All zips throughout have large synthetic rubberized pull assists.

Carry on

The ergonomic Grip Lock side handles clip together to form quite a thickset, secure single handle that’s very comfortable to hold and easy to grip, plus balances perfectly with a rifle installed.

The other carrying option is a detachable off-set double strap shoulder harness with sliding rubber shoulder pads. These are adjustable from 70-106cm and positioned so the rifle sits high on the back for impressive vertical balance and wearer comfort while walking. When not required, they are easily detached and can be stored in the bag’s generously sized accessory pocket.

Storage

On the outer, there is a zipfastened 28x17x30cm clam shell opening accessory pocket, which due to its thoughtful design and depth, will easily hold accessories such as a bipod, silencer and/or maintenance kit etc. Inside, there is large, flat, zipped pocket and 2x small slip pouch pockets for smaller items you may want to store separately, such as magazines and spare ammo.

Overall, the Napier Bull Pup DX is by far the best carrying option for a bullpup-style air rifle.
