Wildhunter Bag

Wildhunter Bag

Seems Bob Connaughton at Wildhunter has been busy settling on a range of shooting accessories to bear the Wildhunter logo and camo pattern. To highlight the new design he’s hit on a novel way of attracting you to it. Select outlets have a limited supply of the eye-catching, almost hi-viz pattern on these items but when they’re in full production the design will become ‘more subtle’ because at present ‘the camo’s so bright, you gotta wear shades.’ A nice PR move and it’s worked because they’re selling like hot cakes due to the almost psychedelic look.

Tree Deep

However, look beneath the ‘ltd edition skin’ and you’ll discover very familiar kit and features the company once did in their Treedeep Camo. All have a high quality 600D construction with metal or strong synthetic fittings - heavy-duty snap buckle connectors are used to adjust and secure and the trim is leather or Cordura.

First up is the Wildhunter Gun Slip. Obviously a shotgun design, it measures 52 x 8” at the butt end, then tapers slowly to the strengthened muzzle protector. Like the other accessories featured it’s tough, durable and waterproof. It has a fleece lining with 1” thick foam padding and includes a strong, adjustable/detachable shoulder strap, plus integral webbing carry handles. It also boasts a zip fasten ‘choke’ pouch pocket on the outer and is stylishly finished with leather trimming.

Good Game

The Wildhunter Gamebag is generously sized measuring 17 ½ X 12 ½ by 4” deep. Inside there are four, open-top yet handy pockets of varying sizes suited to holding multi-tool or secateurs to larger items such as medium size binos. A PVC lining ensures ease of cleaning. There’s also a full width zip fasten pocket on the rear, which is 10” deep. It has an adjustable shoulder strap, two large front pockets and a large game net pocket on the outer. The large overflap secures by two snap fit buckles on adjustable webbing that comes from under the bag to give extra support.

Last but not least, the Wildhunter Cartridge Belt. Pretty much a standard shell-belt it holds 25, 12-Gauge cartridges in holders attached to a 32” X 3 ¼” padded front section. It’s adjustable waist band,  is made from strong, 1 ½”, black webbing that adjusts to fit up to a 50” waist and has a strong ABS snap clip belt buckle fastening.

FOR - Build quality, well designed and cleverly featured
AGAINST - Not a lot
VERDICT - Quality field luggage for the shotgunner and very competitively priced
