Jack Pyke spinner targets

Jack Pyke spinner targets

Each and every month I’m testing replicas, be they BB or pellet, and shooting at plain paper targets does get a little repetitive at times. I was therefore overjoyed to receive a package from my good friends at Jack Pyke which turned out to contain a series of superb little reactive and interactive targets!

If you have a place where you can legally and safely shoot your replicas then I’m sure you’ll have done what I have and created your own little course of fire, ‘old skool’ practical style. It’s easy enough to knock up your own targets but I have to ask why you’d bother when you can have these great value solid metal versions? All of the targets are really well put together and are great for regular re-use. Starting with the cheapest first, £6.95 will get you a pair of double minispinners.

These can screw in easily to a post or piece of wood and be positioned wherever you want them. With one 20 and one 25mm target spot (all the target spots are highlighted ‘range orange’) they’re tricky to hit, but whirl away when you do! £7.95 will get you a slightly more comprehensive set which offers 20, 25, 30 and 40mm spinners.

If you would rather have targets that are free-standing then there are a couple of great options within the Jack Pyke range as well. The Mini Spinner Target Stake comes on a 300mm long stake which you simply push into the ground, and has one 30mm and one 40mm target on a 140mm arm.

This is superb if you want to nail your snap shooting skills; once you hit one of the target points the arm starts to spin and nailing the other becomes really quite a task!

In a Spin

Still want more? The Resetting Spinner Target is a great little training tool. It’s essentially five targets in one, with four lower spinners mounted on a steel bar.

Each time you hit one of the lower spinners it flips up and is retained by the higher bar which holds the top target. When all four of the lower targets have been hit and are held by the upper bar you simple shoot the top target which releases the lower four back into their lower, starting position. All the targets are held in a sturdy 38x26cm steel frame with supporting legs that fold away when it’s not in use, so it’s easy to store as well. You can literally shoot at this all day long, and at just £14.75 this is certainly money well spent.

If, like me, you enjoy getting together with a few friends to shoot as a group (a pound apiece in the hat!) then just a few quid each will turn your makeshift range into something eminently exciting! I’m lucky to have a piece of private woodland which I have permission to shoot on and where I carry out my testing. I think it’s time to set up a few of these great little targets there and really have some fun!
