Target Air Targets

Target Air Targets

It all started when Lukasz decided to see if he could get some target cards printed; when the printer told him how much they would be and that he’d get a more favourable price if he ordered in bulk, Lukasz sold some to a friend and the others online. The variety of cards gradually got larger until it seemed logical to start a business.

On Target

Target Air are a relatively new venture but have hit the ground running, in that they have covered just about all the bases, as far as targets are concerned. There are target cards in the standard 17cm x 17cm (7x7 inch) size, but they produce two thicknesses, to cater for airsoft shooters and airgunners. Standard thickness cards can be too thick for BBs to penetrate (due to the low power of UK legal airsoft guns), but the thinner paper used allows for better indication of where the shots are going. The range of targets available is simply amazing, from conventional round black targets, animal silhouettes, life-like pictures of quarry species, to zombies. Come the zombie apocalypse, it’s good to know that people will have been honing their shooting skills with these targets!

I won’t try and detail all of the styles available; it’ll be easier to show you in the photographs that accompany this article. Prices start at £2.99 for 25 red, white and blue bullseye or animal cards; these prices include post and packing.

Real Steel

story continues below...

Lukasz was originally using a steel target holder cum pellet trap that he’d bought in a local shop but once again, he thought he could produce something better and now sells a much more durable version that he’s had made by a local engineering company. The steel is much thicker than that used on other version and at 3mm thick, it’ll last a lifetime. It’s certainly a hefty item and can be used free standing or hung on a hook or screw and is priced at £16.99.

For those wanting reactive targets, Target Air sell a comprehensive range of 3mm thick steel spinners; they’re available in a variety of sizes from 15mm up to 45mm, so they’re ideal for FT and HFT practice, or just good old fashioned plinking. Animal shapes are also produced, as crow, rat and rabbit silhouettes. Two double spinners on a 10 inch high T bar that is pushed into the ground is £11.99 and four doubles, on a horizontal bar with ground spikes at each end, are £24.99.

If you fancy making up your own target post (like I did) or want to screw spinners to fence posts or tree trunks, there are versions complete with mounting screws for £4.99 each. To give them a real workout, I used an off-cut of round fence post and screwed them on the left and right in a staggered formation. My ‘totem pole’ proved to be very popular, especially with my son Peter, when we went to our local club, ETL in Essex. They stood up well to many well-placed shots and I’m sure they’ll be good for many years of use. A quick spray with paint and a lube now and again will keep them looking good and functioning well pretty much indefinitely.

Want Wood?

A really novel target is the wooden dowel holder, priced at £11.99; it’s a flat steel bar with holes in into which are placed red coloured rods, similar to those that hold a lot of flat-pack furniture together. They can either be pushed in all the way, or left loose; so that when hit by a pellet, they either break off where they’re struck or fly out. It’s really good fun and ensures that your scope is set up perfectly for windage. The price includes 100 dowels.

Conclusion

Well, I’ve given all these items a real hammering lately and they show no sign of damage, so I can recommend them to anyone after well-designed and made targets. The range has something for everyone and I’m sure we’ll be hearing more from Target Air in the future. They even make targets for rimfire and fullbore shooters and I’ll be having a look at those next month. Contact: www.target-air.co.uk
