LED lenser

The market for tactical torches has slowed somewhat which is a good thing as it was becoming inundated with lights! Frankly a lot of this kit is unsurprisingly similar, the result being that few brands stick out as being more useful or innovative than the others. However, I make the exception with the LED LENSER P7, which I reckon is an excellent option for airgun and rimfire use. The kit includes the torch, remote switch with integral battery carrier, spare battery carrier for alternative tail switch, scope mount, lanyard, heavy-duty Nylon pouch and red filter.
Click, Click, Click
Length is 5 ¼” with the tail switch and lens housing retracted (more of this later); the knurled, black alloy body is 1 1/8” with a 1 7/16” lens housing. With 4 X AAA batteries in a removable carrier installed it weighs 196 grams. It has a three step, quick-cycle function - press once and hold gives maximum brightness, click again high light mode, once more for low, clicking again switches off. On the highest setting the single CREE LED puts out 200 Lumens of focusable light with a 64 hour continuous battery life and an incredible claimed beam range of 233m.
There’s a one-hand speed focus function, which is done by sliding the lens housing. Forward gives a tight beam and back widens it. Gun-mounting is handled by a simple Fig-8, universal clamp, that can adjust to various diameter to allow both scope or barrel attachment, you could even put it on a 12-bore shotgun too. A large length of strong rubber strip is supplied should you want to attach it to anything larger.
Plug & Play
All you do is slack off the clamp place it on the scope etc, then slide the torch on and tighten up. Then it’s just a matter of fitting up the remote and attaching the pressure pad (Velcro pads supplied) to where suits you best. Once set up, you can push the filter on, or use the amazingly bright white beam. Then adjust the beam spread and pressure on the pad switches it on for as long as you hold it. During testing the P7 proved an amazingly powerful tactical torch and the beam unfiltered on its highest setting easily reaches out to identify quarry at over 200m.
