Cluson Pro-Spotter gun torch

Cluson Pro-Spotter gun torch

The LED lamping kit sector is now well catered for with many companies offering quite similar products and features. So in this now saturated what has Cluson’s Clulite Pro-Spotter Gun-Lite (Pro-1) to offer over the seemingly ever growing competition?

Gun Torch

The kit includes the Pro-1 Lamp with CREE LED, B21 Li-ion battery, the Dual Gun Mounting Kit for (25/30mm scope tubes), CH28 mains and CH29 vehicle chargers, tactical tail switch with wrist strap and the S20’ 2-mode pressure switch with double-sided Velcro strips for attachment.
As you’ve probably noticed the torch is different in profile to their Master-Lite Supreme and has larger lens housing. Manufactured from black-anodised, aircraft-grade aluminium it’s fully waterproofed with rubber O-rings seals where anything come together. As for effecting gun handling, have no fear as the torch weighs a mere 350-grams with battery installed.

These new era batteries are the key to these units success, due to the amazing power they give in relation to their size. They also have a built in management system, which coupled with it having no memory offers a hi-tech re-chargeable power source capable of over 600 full recharge cycles.

Big Head

The high quality CREE LED gives a piercing, bright white light with a life span of 50,000hrs which when combined with the precision reflector assembly gives outstanding performance for such a relatively small torch. This is where it differs from the Master-Lite as the 45mm lens is held in a 55mm housing with an outer ribbed profile, which acts as a heat sink.

Measuring 6 ½” overall, the rather squat forward section tapers sharply down to meet the 1” body tube, which is ribbed and knurled for grip. Fitting is by Cluson’s now familiar, multi-adjustable, G-clamp mounting system.

Press ON/OFF

For gun use most will use the remote pressure switch and probably position the pad on the forend for ease of use, which replaces the standard tail cap unit. Press once and the torch comes on, a quick dab and it changes to low beam setting, one more and it goes back to high. Pressing fully in switches it off, this sequence applies if using remote pad or the rear tail switch. Run time is rated as 3 ½ hours on full beam or 20 hours on low. The Pro-Spotter is rated as having a 250m focused beam and a clear identification for targeting of over 200m.

It’s hard to disagree with those statistics as it does seem to give higher power than its predecessor and though the beam broadens out more, it’s still tight with no overspill. An optional extra is a slide-on, flip-up filter kit set comprising of red, amber & yellow lenses – highly recommend for the versatility it will give this very lightweight and highly efficient lamping kit.
