Wisport Sparrow Egg Backpack
- Last updated: 18/12/2022
The Sparrow Egg is one of Wisport’s smallest backpacks, with a capacity of just 10 litres, but it is still equipped with many of the features that their larger packs have. The egg shape is unusual but it is actually very practical because, with no corners or large projections, it sits in the middle of your back and does not snag on any bushes or undergrowth as you move through it.
The main compartment features a high-quality 2-way zip, protected by a really good-sized storm flap. This gives full and easy access to the contents. The zips also have long paracord pulls on them, allowing you to open the pack easily when wearing gloves. Inside, there is a large internal slip pocket and a zippered pocket for smaller items. On the sides of the pack, there are two large mesh pockets with elasticated rims, which allow you to keep important items safe and secure but also visible and easy to get at. The backpack is also CamelBak compatible, so you can use it to carry water.
Daisy chains on the front and sides of the pack, as well as four low-profile attachment loops, provide numerous attachment points for additional gear. An elasticated bungee cord on the front of the pack, equipped with a cord lock, allows you to attach items of clothing where they can be quickly accessed.
The adjustable, soft and bridged shoulder straps are very well designed for the size of the backpack and they provide a really comfortable and secure carry. The back of the pack is also nicely padded and shaped to sit comfortably against your back.
Quick-release buckles, a chest strap, numerous attachment points, thumb loops and hydration tube clips are all provided, which is unusual for such a small pack, but they are all useful and well-made.
The backpack is well made, using hardwearing Cordura with a water-resistant coating. All the seams are taped and well-finished.
The size and shape of the Sparrow Egg backpack make it ideal for carrying a small load in heavy cover, where a larger, bulkier pack would get snagged and impede your progress. The main compartment will house ammunition, binoculars and all your other items. The mesh side pockets are ideal for drinks containers and the bungee cord can hold gloves or larger items on the outside. The shoulder straps are really well shaped and the pack does not move around on your back when you are walking, so when wearing the backpack for several hours, you forget that it’s there.
For a lightly equipped stalking trip, the Wisport Sparrow Egg is ideal. Although at first glance it might look a bit of a ‘trendy accessory’, it is actually a useful bit of kit with more than enough room for all your gear. The build quality is very good, as you would expect from this brand, and the backpack is available in a variety of colours.
