Called the 300 (no prizes for guessing why) Spartan’s newest design is based on their successful Javelin, which uses a quick detachable magnetic attachment system along with a lockable cant/traverse-adjustable base. The 300 was envisaged as a semi-permanent fitting for those that like to keep the pod on board JIC. It attaches by a special rifle adaptor plate (RAP) with socket and bayonet lug system. When stowed, it folds into an over & under shape that sits under the barrel/forend; forward or back. To deploy, press the button on the side and pull the legs down to vertical, then rotate them 90° and open them, or it can be removed, and carried in your pocket. In use it shows a decent gape of 6” and is length-adjustable from 6-9,” so very much the ideal spec! Made of carbon fibre and aluminium, it’s light and twists to lock/unlock the leg extensions, long rubber boots can be removed to expose tungsten carbide tips; both options offering an all-surface approach. We will be putting the 300 through its paces next month but have to say, it looks good.
