Napier Intrepid Travel Bag

Like many others I go away for shooting breaks in the UK and Napier’s Intrepid Travel Bag will swallow a lot of gear. Depending on your views you can go bold and choose it either in Advantage Timber or Hardwoods Green, or lower key in plain green.

Carryall

The base design is the ever-popular trolley bag, but as we’ve come to expect of Napier there’s more than a few surprises thrown in and the build is of the highest quality. Manufactured from 600D Polyester Natex it has a huge, 96 litre capacity. The design allows it to be used as a standard holdall, as it has web handles and a detachable/adjustable shoulder strap.

However, the convenience of wheels, certainly in airports, is not to be ignored and at the opposite end to these - under a zip - you’ll find a rigid, pull-out handle. So you can easily tow your load, which does cut down on general travel stress.

Access to the large, internal cargo area is via a heavy-duty double zip that fully opens up the top section. The zips are lockable as they have small padlock holes for extra security. There are two 12 X 8 X 2 ½” zip-closed pockets set side by side, positioned alongside one side, and two 12 X 10 X 1 ½” pockets on either end.

Smooth Operator

The bag measures approximately 30” long when fully loaded and including outer pockets can easily expand to approximately 18” wide and sits 14” off the ground. It’s kept off the deck by two full length ABS ‘skids’ (strengthening bars) that protect the base and handle mechanism. Inside, and hidden from view, is a full length and width double layer polypropylene base panel affording strength and rigidity to this very important area.

When used with the handle extended the bag runs smoothly on the strong hard rubber wheels and will even stand up vertically, thanks to a stabiliser foot being positioned on the side where the wheels are. Napier rates the bag to cope with weights in excess of 88 lb, so it’ll hold hardware as much as it will clothing.
