Lot 1436: A fine 12-bore ‘Royal De Luxe’ Holland & Holland

Holt’s Auctioneers is selling a fine Baptiste-engraved 12-bore ‘Royal De Luxe’ self-opening hand-detachable sidelock ejector made in 2013 by top London gunmaker Holland & Holland. Holt’s Auctioneers’ Chris Beaumont commented: “This Lot is a rare chance for us as auctioneers to handle the most up to date of best English guns – and this 2013 Holland ‘Royal De Luxe’ is everything it purports to be. It’s an absolutely fabulous example of what our best gunmakers are capable of - and what those in the fortunate position to be able to order a new one can look forward to.”

The gun features 28in. nitro chopperlump barrels, the tubes engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND BRUTON STREET, LONDON.', and  with a band of bold foliform engraving at the breech end, 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 3/4 choke, automatic safety, hand-detachable lockplates, finely matted gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, rolled-edge triggerguard, the action, lockplates and furniture deeply carved with flowing acanthus with foliform bordering, all on a dark, finely matted background, the triggerplate signed 'R. BAPTISTE', the fore-end engraved en suite, 15 1/2in. highly-figured stock with diamond grip, weight 7lb. 6oz.
