A unique commemorative ‘40th anniversary’ RPA rifle

Holt’s Auctioneers is selling a commemorative 40th anniversary .308WIN bolt-magazine sporting rifle made in 2009 by Warwickshire-based gunmaker RPA International Ltd.

  • Holt’s Auctioneers’ Chris Beaumont commented that the rifle was especially designed and manufactured to celebrate four decades of world class rifle production: “From an auction house perspective, being able to use the word ‘unique’ in a description is always a real positive as you are telling the market this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to acquire the item in question. This RPA rifle is a great example, they are well known for producing excellent and accurate rifles – but this one, with its very fine walnut custom stock, the gold-plated finish and bespoke leather case and fittings makes it very special – and with the makers guarantee that it will never be reproduced, makes it truly exclusive.”

  • The gun features 24in. unsighted fluted nitro barrel, threaded at the muzzle and with thread protecting cap, the knox form gold-inlaid 'RPA 40 YEARS', gold-plated receiver engraved with the RPA trade mark and mounted with a Swarovski Z6 1-6x24 telescopic sight, serial no. R780421851, detachable box magazine with triggerguard mounted release lever, bolt with gold-plated cocking piece, gold-plated adjustable trigger, highly-figured thumbhole pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, 14 1/2in. pull including 1in. leather covered recoil pad, weight 10lb. 2oz., in its custom brass-cornered fitted leather case, the lid interior with gold-plated RPA trademark plaque, the case fitted for three gold-plated inert rounds and two RPA medallions, and  with a compartment containing a leather document wallet, alloy cocking piece and two gun case keys on an RPA trademarked leather fob. The case comes with two external straps (hitherto unfitted and never buckled).  Estimate: £4,000-6,000 Holt’s Auctioneers’ next auction in London is on Thursday 16th March.
